Approximately 120 debate enthusiasts from universities and schools around the country will compete at the inaugural QIUP National BP Novice, which runs from August 12 to August 13, according to latest statistics from the registration and tabulation committee from the Malaysian Institute for Debate and Public Speaking (MIDP).
The committee announced the latest numbers of participants on Monday morning after the registration for participation closed as the tournament has reached it’s team cap of 40. According to the announcement, a total of 40 teams registered for the QIUP National BP Novice, representing 120 participants, which include 80 debaters and 40 adjudicators.
A breakdown of the registration data shows that the tournaments has attracted participants from 13 universities and 9 secondary schools, with participation coming from as far as Sabah.
The organizing committee said it was very pleased to see a great response, especially when the tournament is fairly new and hosted outside of the Klang Valley.
